100%

One of the alarming facts about P90X is that only 25% of people actually finish the program! So for every 4 people who buy P90X, only 1 person is completing the entire 90 days.

Why such a low success rate? People aren’t willing to commit 100% to the entire program, which includes not only completing the actual workouts but committing 100% to the nutrition part also. Eating right is just as big a part of getting the awesome results that so many people have gotten using P90X as is actually pushing play and doing the workouts. A lot of coaches will say that our results are based on 80% nutrition and 20% our devotion to the workouts. But to be truthful, the only number you have to keep in your head is 100: committing yourself 100% to never skipping a workout, giving your all during every workout, and eating right to help get you the best body possible.

A lot of people think they can do one or the other and still get great results. I laugh when I hear friends say they’re on a diet which consists of eating basically nothing and believe they don’t have to workout to get great results. The diet may help you lose weight, but it’s not magically going to get you ripped and in shape. It’s also frustrating to hear people who commit 100% to the workouts but then eat fast food, pizza, and go out drinking beers every night and still wonder why they aren’t making any progress.  I used to be one of the latter…during my first round of P90X I committed to the workouts but didn’t eat properly (I wouldn’t go out drinking every night just to note, but I didn’t eat the proper food, such as lean meats, fruits, veggies, protein, etc). I saw results, but they could have been better. I then realized how important the nutrition part is and now my results have gone to the next level.

In other words, committing 100% won’t be easy. Sacrifices will have to be made, such as cutting out the fatty food, candy, and alcohol (is it okay to drink once in a while with friends and family? Yes! Lets be realistic here …You don’t have to totally cut alcohol out of your life, but you shouldn’t be having a beer or glass of wine every night either). But you’ll really begin to see the results when you get the nutrition part right.
And what about the most common excuse I hear to not committing 100% to the workouts, which is “I don’t have the time to work out every day”? Nonsense. We can all make sacrifices to make the time to workout, such as cutting down the TV we watch, the video games we play, etc. Use your TIVO or OnDemand and watch all your TV shows on your rest day. J  And if you really can’t find an hour a day to workout, order 10 Minute Trainer…everyone has 10 minutes a day!

You’re the only one who can challenge and push yourself each day to commit 100%. If you make me your coach, I will promise to help motivate you and give tips on what you can do to get the best results possible. However, at the end of the day it all depends on whether you’re willing to Decide, Commit, and Succeed. You may not see great results on day 30, maybe not even day 60, but on day 90 I guarantee you’ll see a new you, so don’t get discouraged. Make a goal to be part of that elite 25%, and you’ll in the process transform your mind and body into something you used to only be able to dream about.
